2025 r00ted exhibition

Join us for an intimate afternoon of poetry, photography, sound, and storytelling at the historic August Wilson House on Saturday, September 21st from 3–5PM.

ROOTED is a deeply personal poetry capsule collection and audio-visual photo exhibition by Jamillia Kaye, created in loving tribute to her late friend, Alicia Anglin. This event marks the launch of Jamillia’s third poetry capsule collection, also titled ROOTED. The collection features four handcrafted 5x7 letterpress poetry prints, each exploring a different grounding force: new beginnings, mentorship, kinship, and eternal love.

Curated by Audra Lee, the exhibition brings these themes to life through a powerful blend of: portrait photography, short audio reflections from 13 community leaders rooted in creativity, and original letterpress poetry prints. Together, they explore the intersections of grief, joy, memory, and the power of creative healing.

Come experience the beauty of vulnerability and connection — through creativity, community, and culture. Libations and small bites will be served.
